How many times have you stepped out the door in a cute outfit only to realize your have no where to put your phone? You end up clutching it forever as your stroll (or worst yet stuffing it in a bra!)
Until women's clothing is consistently made with pockets I got you're back with the
Look! It Even Has Pockets! - Phone Pouch
This beginner friendly pattern is a super fast make. It is worked entirely flat, so if you're aren't used to crocheting in the round this is the pattern for you! It uses about 45g of worsted weight cotton yarn and a 5.5mm crochet hook. It's working as one continuous piece so there are only two ends to weave in! And it's a great scrap buster!
Share your finished phone pouch on social media and tag @remyacraftyhedgehog so I can see your amazing makes!
Supplies
5.5 MM Crochet Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn - 46g/72 yards Cotton Recommended - for this pattern I used Big Twist Favorite Cotton in Daylight Blue
Scissors
Stitch Markers (1 minimum, 2 optional but helpful)
Advice
When you are crocheting flat if you find that you're rectangular/square shapes are becoming more trapezoid it is probably because you are either adding or skipping stitches at the ends of your ROWS. A way to avoid this is to regularly use a stitch marker on the first stitch of a ROW as well as on the last stitch of a ROW. When you have a clear beginning and end you're corners will stay 90°!

ROW 1: Turn, starting in the second CH ST from your hook (i.e. the 30th chain stitch) SC 30 into the back bump of the CH, CH 1. [30]
ROW 2: Turn, starting in the second stitch from your hook, SC 30, CH 1. [30]
ROW 3: Repeat ROW 2
ROW 4: Repeat ROW 2
ROW 5: Repeat ROW 2
ROW 6: Turn, CH 3 (this takes the place of your first DC), PM, CH 1, SK ST 2, V-Stitch x9, CH 1, DC 1. [9 V-Stitches, 2 DC]
ROW 7: Turn, CH 3 (this takes the place of your first DC), PM, CH 1, V-stitch into the CH-space of the V-stitch from the previous ROWx9, CH 1, DC 1. [9 V-Stitches, 2 DC]
ROW 8-12: Repeat ROW 7
ROW 13: Turn, CH 1, starting in the second stitch from your hook, SC 1, SC 1 into the CH 1-space, (SC 2 in the CH-space of the V-stitch from the previous ROW, SC 1 between the V-stitches)x9, SC 1. [30]
ROW 14: Turn, CH 2 (this takes the place of your first HDC), PM, HDC 29. [30]
Strap
Advice: You do not need to use a stitch marker on the strap and the beginning and end of each ROW is very clear.
ROW 15: Turn, CH 2, HDC 1. (1 CH-space, 1 HDC)
ROW 16: Turn, CH 2, HDC 1 into the CH-space from the previous ROW. (1 CH-space, 1 HDC)
ROW 17-113: Repeat ROW 16 an additional 97 times, or to desired length. If you alter the length of the strap make sure you end on an odd numbered ROW.
Joining the Strap
Looking back at the main body of the pouch find the 16th stitch, add a stitch marker. Being sure not to twist your strap bring it around to the middle of you pouch. Hold the strap and the pouch together where the strap is against the outside of the bag. SL ST to the 14th stitch which you marked earlier, SK ST 1, SL ST through the CH-space and the 16th stitch. CH 1, pull tightly.
Closing the Bag
Fold the main body of the pouch closed. You will now be crocheting through both side at the same time. This area can get a little messy but as long as you are consistent and don't pull your SL ST tightly you will be fine. If you notice your bag's seam is starting to curve you probably pulled the SL ST's too tightly.
SL ST 2 into the HDC, SL 1 into the SC, (SL ST around all DC/CHs)x7, SL ST 5 down ROWS 1-5, in corner SL ST 2, turn around corner, going into the left over V's of the chains (we used the back bumps in the ROW 1) SL ST 15, CH 1, cut yarn and pull tightly. Weave in your two ends.
And you're done!!! I hope you enjoyed this pattern!
And I hope you never suffer without a pocket again!
