Eddy - the Plump and Plush Eyeball 👁️

ree

Hello! Eye'm so glad you set your sights on this pattern! It is a really simple to make your own spooky eyeball just in time for Halloween! This pattern is adaptable because you can use either two strands of Worsted Weight size 3 yarn or one strand of Super Bulky Weight size 6 yarn or even mix them together as I did! Your finished eyeball will be iris-istable!I hope you don't find these puns too cornea! I swear that was the last one, hehehe.

Materials:

  • Yarn (see note below about yarn weight)

    • Colors

      • Black (8g in Worsted Weight)

      • Chosen Iris Color (8g, I used two different strands of brown Worsted Weight Yarn to add dimension to the Iris)

      • White

    • Note about picking a yarn weight: This pattern is adaptable because you can use either two strands of Worsted Weight size 3 yarn or one strand of Super Bulky Weight size 6 yarn or even mix them together and use them in different sections as I did. I used two strands of Worsted Weight for the Pupil and the Iris and then one strand of Super Bulky Weight for the White of the Eye

      • 1 strand at a time - Super Bulky Weight Size 6 Yarn

      • 2 strands at a time - Worsted Weight Size 3 Yarn

  • 4.0mm Crochet Hook

  • Poly-fil - you will stuff it firmly so you will need about a good amount of polyfil, think about as much as would stuff two gallon ziplocs

  • Stitch Marker

  • Darning Needle

  • Scissors

Terminology:

ST - Stitch

SC - Single Crochet

INC - Increase

SL ST - Slip Stitch

RND - Crochet in Rounds

[ ]x# - Repeat instructions inside of the brackets the number of times stated

Making the Pupil

Using black yarn (2 strands Worsted Weight or 1 Super Bulky Weight)

RND 1: 6sc in Mr (6)

RND 2: 6inc (12)

RND 3: [1sc, 1inc]x6 (18)

RND 4: [2sc, 1inc]x6 (24)

RND 5: [3sc, 1inc]x6 (30)

Cut your yarn with a 3 inch tail, invisibly finish, and weave in on the back.

Making the Iris

Join with the chosen color for Iris (2 strands Worsted Weight or 1 Super Bulky Weight)

Remy Tip: Join a few stitches away from where you invisibly finished will help

achieve a rounder effect, you can also stagger the increases to achieve this but

sometimes that is cumbersome to count and this is a simple cheat to get a similar

effect.

RND 6: (4sc, 1inc)x6 (36)

RND 7: (5sc, 1inc)x6 (42)

RND 8: (6sc, 1inc)x6 (48)

Cut your yarn with a 3 inch tail, invisibly finish, and weave in on the back.

Making the White of the Eye

Join with white (2 strands Worsted Weight or 1 Super Bulky Weight)

Remy Tip: Join a few stitches away from where you invisibly finished will help

achieve a rounder effect, you can also stagger the increases to achieve this but

sometimes that is cumbersome to count and this is a simple cheat to get a similar

effect.

(3sc, inv dec)x6 (24)

(2sc, inv dec)x6 (12)

Enjoy Eddy the Plump & Plush Eyeball!

Use it to keep an eye on any yarn sales at Michael's!

These eyeballs follow the same pattern, the size difference is the result of tension and stuffing.
