SoCal Fiber Fair 2024

The Lil' Gourd Hoard

My entry into the 2024 SoCal Fiber Fair Pumpkin contest was inspired by an actual pumpkin I carved in Middle School.  I was always enamored with the 'pumpkins on branches' for sale at the grocery store.  Technically, they aren't pumpkins at all, they are actually a type of eggplant.  Nevertheless, I thought I was quite the pre-teen innovator making a pumpkin patch of them inside a pumpkin complete with a toothpick fence and coffee ground dirt.  In 2024, I decided to revisit my younger self and remake my vision in fiber utilizing elements of micro-crochet that I had learned that year. For the second year in a row I was lucky enough to win Best in Category.
