A Gourd Time for Pumpkin Carving

My entry into SoCal Fiber Fair 2023 will always have a special place in my heart! It was my first step into competitive crocheting. I entered their knitted or crocheted Pumpkin category and I made an interactive piece inspired by the tradition of carving pumpkins that we all grew up with. Did you spread newspaper out on your kitchen table too so you wouldn't make such a mess?

For my more innovative pieces I like to sketch them out first. Sometimes I put pen to napkin and sometimes I use Procreate. Either way once the idea is fiber-ized it is magical!

And I'm happy to report that the judges at SoCal Fiber Fair felt the same way and my pumpkin entry won Best in Category!
